LOT-EK Wins FIT’s Israel Prize

The Interior Design Department awarded Ada Tolla and Guiseppe Lignano, founding partners of the architecture firm LOT-EK (pronounced low-tech), the 2014 Lawrence Israel Prize, given annually to an individual or firm whose ideas and work enrich students’ studies. The principals spoke at FIT on April 22 about their innovative, sustainable approach to construction and materials for installations and buildings. As an example, in redeveloping a pier in the Meatpacking District, LOT-EK is upcycling shipping containers to create public and commercial spaces.
