PETE SCOTESE:

“Giving back. There’s a therapeutic value in giving to others. It’s much more than self-satisfaction; giving keeps you going. When you’re focused on helping others, there’s not a lot of time to concern yourself with your own problems. Einstein says we were put on this planet to help others. Be like Einstein.”

Scotese, seen here in 1945, was awarded a Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts for bravery in World War II.

Bio: Peter G. Scotese, retired president and CEO of Springs Mills, and chairman emeritus of FIT’s Board of Trustees, has lived a long, adventurous life characterized by inventiveness and philanthropy. He calls FIT “my love for more than 50 years,” and established a charitable remainder trust to benefit the college.
