Home Products Development ’12, Visual Presentation and Exhibition Design ’10, founder and director, Lyle Gallery

This is the back kitchen area of Lyle Gallery. This space sometimes blends into the exhibition itself. It’s where I spend a lot of time on calls with designers, creating marketing assets, and scheduling walkthroughs—this is a new company, so I’m constantly scheming and dreaming. The bookshelf is actually a hidden door leading to a secret room, filled with a mix of exhibition catalogs, artist monographs, zines, and plenty of queer art and design books, reflecting our ethos as a queer-owned gallery. I found this space on Craigslist, and the moment I saw that bookshelf door, I knew this was the space for me.

I also love our vintage bentwood chairs—they came from [NYC Italian restaurant] Carbone and were a great find on Facebook Marketplace. The red tablecloth is a recent addition—my wife and I are launching a video podcast dinner series featuring women and nonbinary leaders in the arts, business, and culture as an extension of the gallery, and this booth is now our filming set.
